Week6: Term Project and Assignments

Dear all,
For those who are still unclear about the term project and assignments, here is a few reminders:
1. Term Project (15%) - This assignment requires you to download a radio program (at least 3 minutes long), listen to it and transcribe the content, and identify the main word stress of the content words [Wait for my following posts to find out more about how to do the project].
2. Self-assessment (5%) - This task requires you to come to my office and have your voices recorded while reading a short text. Later, towards the end of the course, after having looked at various aspects of pronunciation errors, I will ask you to listen to your recorded voices and evaluate your pronunciation according to specified criteria. So, before the midterms, those who have not come to my office yet should drop by a.s.a.p and complete the recording process, otherwise they will lose that 5 points!..
3. Mini Lessons (10%) - In pairs, or in groups of 3, you are supposed to prepare a ten-minute lesson in which you are going to focus on one aspect of English pronunciation. The lesson you are supposed to conduct should aim at teaching your friends (let's say your imaginary future students) that particular aspect of pronunciation. In this lesson, you will first teach the aspect with some explanations and examples on the board, playing some extracts or using some short video, etc.; then using some exercise sheets to test if your friends/ students have understood the aspect you have taught. When you decide on who you will work with and what pronunciation aspect you are going to teach, you will post a message here on the blog, to inform me and your friends so that we'll all be able to see who is doing what...
Thanks.
